Hi my Name is Dave Demers, I was born in June 1952 (you can figure out the age on your own) at Tyndall AFB outside of Panama City, Fl. I was born the 3rd child in a four child Air Force family and like my Dad, his Dad and my Brother I made the military a career. Unlike my dad and brother I followed in my Grandfather's footsteps and joined the Navy.
27 years of Naval Aviation service has taken me to numerous countries and to just about all the continents. During my career I traveled above the Arctic circle visiting Thule Greenland and below the Antarctic circle, McMurdo Station where I met my wife Dawna leaving me a desire to travel across the country to the arctic circle.
I have two children a son living in Meza AZ, a talented craftsman producing medieval armour and a very independent daughter a Navy Corpsman serving with a Marine Battalion in Afghanistan.
I have been riding Harley Davidson's for almost twenty years now and my wife and I have two parked in our garage. When planning for trip it was a hard choice that I made not to ride my Harley to Prudhoe Bay, but as much as I enjoy riding my 2008 Road Glide it is not designed to travel the 900 plus miles of gravel road that we will be riding on. So after test riding several other duo sport motorcycles I decided on the BMW R1200 GS.
